Introduction
Five assassins board the Hayate bullet train from Tokyo to Morioka, each with separate objectives that will violently converge in the confined space of the high-speed rail carriages. Nanao, a self-proclaimed unlucky killer working under the codename Ladybeetle, receives what should be a simple assignment: retrieve a briefcase from the train and disembark. Tangerine and Lemon, professional assassins known as the Fruit duo, escort Minegishi's rescued son back to Morioka whilst carrying the ransom money they recovered from his kidnappers. Kimura, a desperate father and former security operative, hunts the teenage boy who pushed his six-year-old son Wataru from a department store roof, leaving the child comatose. That boy, calling himself the Prince, has orchestrated Kimura's arrival as part of an elaborate manipulation, luring his pursuer into a trap where he can control him through threats against the hospitalised child. These separate missions intertwine when Nanao discovers the briefcase he seeks belongs to Tangerine and Lemon, setting off a chain reaction of violence, misunderstanding, and escalating chaos.
